Prince of Wales School Speech Day - October 1958
Photo and text supplied by Cecil Johnston
I can remember some of the faces. Apart from "Flakey" Fletcher, the lady beside him is the
Governor's wife, Lady Baring. The Drum Major is Dynes or Dykes - not sure.
The teacher behind Mr. Fletcher with the sunglasses is Mr Chadwick (known as Stalkie),
Housemaster of Scott. Behind Lady Baring - the minister is Canon Capon, and to his right is Mr
Salmon (known as Samaki) and to his right holding the camera is Mr Wright. The "man of the cloth"
in the front row is Bishop Beecher (and his wife next to him) who was Bishop of Mombasa. Five along from the Bishop in that row, in the gown, is H.E. (Ted) Watson, "Whiskers" (taught
chemistry, retired to Cape Town).
By the way, to the right at the rear of the Drum Major, the second person to the right,
is my eldest sister who is beside my father (holding his hat), then my mother and my younger
sister wearing a hat.
Can anyone identify anyone else?
