3rd Old Cambrian Society South African reunion at Stonehaven Castle, Shongweni, Durban, South Africa - 14th Sept 2008

Well that’s it over for another year. Just the other day we were planning, and now it is all behind us.
This year, like last, we advertised in the local papers and radio stations, which brought us together from far and wide.
We opened our hearts to other Kenyan schools this year and we were pleasantly surprised to be joined by guest from
Loreto Covent, Limuru High and Duke of York!
Prince of Wales School had 19 representatives including the oldest Mr Terrance Powel who left school in 1943.
We gave him the honour of breaking the flag at our flag parade to the stirring sounds of the Bagpipes.
Recorded were, 8 from Kenya High, 3 from Limuru High, 2 from Loreto Convent and 1 lonely soul from the Duke of York.
The day was a great success and complimented by clear skies and temperatures over 40 degrees, which passed unnoticed
in the lovely air-conditioned venue. During registration the guests enjoyed snacks and drinks in the Dungeon Arms. Flag
Parade was saluted to the sound of the bagpipes at sharp mid day.
This was followed by a sumptuous lunch with ample time to reminisce and share stories of days gone by.
During lunch the guests were also entertained with a slide show of the history of the school, followed by a brief
history of the venue, Stonehaven Castle.
As the day came to a close those who had arrived as strangers left as friends, already planning to meet next year.
From the emails received since the function, we are pleased to report the day was a great success and that next
year we hope will be bigger and better.
Hope to see you all there.
Regards
Dave Leslie (Hawke 1960-1965)
