Mini-Reunion - Perth, Western Australia - December 2006

Whilst in Perth for the Test match on the first part of my Ashes tour, I had arranged to meet up with Mike Purves who I had
met at the 2006 UK Old Cambrian's reunion which he attended whilst on holiday.
Mike arranged a meal at an excellent
restaurant in Kings Park with it's fantastic views overlooking Perth and the Swan River. He also arranged for another
old boy, Dave McFarnell, to join us. Mike works for a local hospital and is counting down the 22 months to his retirement.
He is also in the process of arranging an East African reunion in March 2007, details of which I am sure will find it's
way onto our web site soon. Dave is a retired PE teacher, although he still does some part time supply work. After a
lifetime of playing and teaching sport (he was, as I remember, a top dog in most sports at school, especially hockey and
rugby) - Dave is suffering somewhat with his knees but still manages his round of golf on a regular basis.
I also met up
with Mike separately at a later date when we had a fish and chip supper at Fisherman's Wharf in nearby Freemantle.
I can heartily recommend the delights of Perth/Freemantle to anyone thinking of paying a visit there.
