Mini-Reunion - Jersey, Channel Islands - 22nd August 2006

Jim & Lorna were in Jersey on holiday, so it was an ideal opportunity to get together with locals Steve & Suzanne Le
Feuvre. They met for dinner at the Salty Dog Restaurant in St. Aubin and enjoyed a great meal in superb surroundings.
There were many stories exchanged throughout the evening, and Steve has picked out just one for readers. Jim has been a
journalist since he left the Prince of Wales School in 1954, but his first introduction to his 'trade' was in his early
days in Clive House, when he produced the "Clive House Chin Wag". It was a hand-written magazine which was produced monthly,
and contained articles about events at the school. There were illustrations in the "Chin Wag", and it even contained adverts of
items for sale .......... Jim says he never charged for these!!
Only one "original" of each edition of the "Chin Wag" was ever produced. It was carefully hand-written by Jim, and in
those days duplication was not really an option for such one-off publications. The edition was then left on a table in the
Clive House common room for anyone (and everyone!) to read it.
I would suspect that Jim's writing skills have improved over the years with all the practice he has had. So, as a special
treat to everyone, here's your chance to read about his time at the PoW in Chapter 3
(The Rabble with a crew cut) of his book on life in East Africa as a
schoolboy and journalist. Jim is looking for a publisher if anyone's interested.
