A tremendous weekend was had by the many Old Cambrians who made the effort to gather in Dover, Kent on Saturday 11th June and Sunday 12th June 2005.
On the Saturday, six Old Cambrians battled it out on the Stonelees Golf Club, with the eventual winner being Martin Langley (Nicholson 1956-61) on a count-back from
Ian Ballance (Grigg 1961-61). Many thanks to Rod Dimech (Nicholson 1959-62) who organised the golf.
In the evening there was an informal evening arranged at the Light of India restaurant in Dover, with 25 people attending.
On the Sunday, we met for drinks at 11.30am at Dover Town Hall. Then at 12.15pm we had a splendid carvery lunch in the
wonderful and historic surroundings of the
Stone Hall. 72 attended the lunch, and our guest of honour was Admiral The Lord Boyce, Warden of the Cinque Ports
and Dover Castle.
Then at 2pm we walked just 100 yards down to Dover College, where we were entertained for the next three hours by the
Dover Pageant. Master of the Pageant is Mike McFarnell (Nicholson 1960-1963) and everyone agreed that the show that he and
the cast (of many scores of volunteers) put on was first class.
A full report (and more photos) will be published when Webmaster has more time available, possibly by the end of July.
