What was probably the first ever gathering of Old Cambrians in Cape Town took place at a curry lunch on 22 December 2004. Fifteen 'Old Boys' and two wives enjoyed recounting and listening to many amusing stories and reminiscences of characters and events at the PoW. It was also interesting to hear what people had done with their lives since leaving school.

Bukhara Restaurant is situated in the impressive Grand West Casino complex. The acoustics in the private dining room was bad, but the curry was excellent. A fair amount of interest has been expressed in meeting again in 2005, so Andrew Langley will be glad to organise something later in the year. As a result of the notice on the OCS website, advertising the lunch, a number of emails, expressing apologies, were received by Andrew, including one from Eric John Wainwright (“Egbert”) (Clive 1958 to 1963), living in Australia ; Tom (“Tumbu”) Jacobs, living in Johannesburg (Nicholson 1958 – 1964) and Geoff Simiyu (Grigg 1970-5 & Head of House 1975) living in Port Elizabeth, RSA.

Rick O’Maloney told us that his good friend Derek Arthur had sadly passed away two days before, on 20 December. Derek was in Nicholson and left in 1958. Condolences to his family and friends.
