Comments:
From Ian McIver: Gordon Deacon was Head of House for the first term - the only prefect in the whole school who was still allowed to smoke
during the (what proved to be temporary) ban on smoking. Whenever E.L. Barnett ["Woof" our much-loved, rather soft-hearted
Housemaster] came into the Prefects' common room, cigarettes (mainly "stompies") would fly in all directions but because
Gordon was allowed to smoke nothing was said even though the air was thick enough for 5 or 6 cigarettes rather than just
one. Gordon Deacon was succeeded in term two by Ian Blair whose father was in the RAF and stationed at Eastleigh.
