Comments:
When this photo was originally posted on the web site in January 2003, it was thought that
it was of Grigg House 1963. However, there was much debate about the year, including the following:
Tony Lea (Grigg 1961-1963) writes on 21st July 2003:
This was the year that I was Gordon Deacon's head fag, and made a small fortune doing ironing of
Sunday white shirts (without burning!)
Ian Ballance (Grigg 1961-1963) writes on 25th Oct 2003:
The date of this photo is 1961 (I think), as I seem to recall that the majority
of the front row came up from Junior for the photo. I'm pretty sure of the year because in
1963 I was Captain of Senior colts football and I think I was a tad bigger
than the 'sprog' in the picture.
There then followed two weeks of exchanges of e-mail..........some fascinating stuff, which
Webmaster has chosen not to share with the rest of the world!!
Ian Ballance and Malcolm Scott (both Grigg 1961-1963) came to an agreement on 10
Nov 2003 that this photo is in fact Grigg House 1962!!
An e-mail from Ian McIver of 23rd April 2005 confirms it's of Grigg House 1962, and has the following comments
about some of those in the photo:
Peter (P.C.) Taylor - Younger brother of Roger Taylor (Head of House 1962) and my friend along with "Ikky" Fairclough.
Diarmid Campbell was my 4th form ("O Levels") study mate
Michael Barford ("Cheerful") - was Head of House 1964 and a good friend, with whom I shared the study closest to the
Housemaster's house
Harry Potts was one of my best friends, so I am 100% sure this is right
Peter Martin - Sadly recently deceased; travelled by ship [MV Galileo] with me to Australia in December 1964 and
settled initially in Brisbane
John Riches - A good friend who retired about 5 years ago after a distingushed career in the RAAF that was originally
encouraged by Grigg Deputy House Master F. ("Freddie") Hill
