Prince of Wales School CCF brass button - 1950s

.....a brass CCF button with the Impala and feathers embossed on it

Ron says he was not in the CCF - so has no idea how he came by that button (stolen?? - ssshhhh!!)
Ron adds that this button is only a half inch across. He thinks there were two sizes, a larger one for the tunic, but can't remember where these small ones were worn.

Does anyone know?

  • David Creswell (Clive 1964-1970) writes:
There would have been two sizes of button. The larger for down the front to close the jacket. The smaller for pocket flaps & epaulet points.
This seems to be the standard military pattern indicated by a study of the photo-portraits of several pukka military chaps e.g. Lieut.-Col.C.F.Birney, D.S.O., R.E., M.Inst.T - General Manager of Beira and Mashonaland and Rhodesia Railway System (page 61, 'Guide To Rhodesia', 2nd edition).
