On 5th March 2007, Webmaster received an e-mail from Alec's son-in-law, Derek Cooke:
My father in law, Alexander Wilson Stewart (Alec), sadly passed away on the 7th of April 2006. He was a pupil at the
Prince of Wales school and was in Clive House from 1949 to 1953. You may if you wish include Alec in your obituaries
list on your website.
Later this year, for the first time, my wife and I are going to Kenya to retrace Alec's steps as a young man. We will be
going to Nakuru, where Alec was born, Nairobi to see the school and railways (where he worked with his Dad and brothers).
He was also a keen rugby & hockey player and I think he played at the city stadium as that wass the only stadium in Nairobi
at the time, I think. He also spent alot of spare time in a snooker club, so if we can find it that would be good. He
was also in the Kenya Regiment for about 8/9 years after he left school, so if we can find the old HQ or training ground,
or memorial/historic buliding, that would be great as well.
If possible could you give me the address of the school and any other places of intrest that may help my wife and I.
It would be a great help to us, thank you. We will be staying at the Panafric Hotel for 3 nights in Nairobi, and at the
Lion Hill Lodge at Nakuru for 3 nights. We hope they are a good base to search the towns; and then a week in Mombasa.
Thanks very much for your time.
Take care & God bless.
Derek Cooke
