On 14th January 2008, Webmaster received an e-mail from John Gobanga (Athi 1986-9):
Just wanted to bring to your attention the death of one of our Old Cambrians, KARIUKI NGURU (Tana/Serengeti 1981-1986) who
passed away in December 2007 after a long battle with cancer of the stomach. Nguru was the Head of Tana House in 1986, the
year I joined 'Patch' and was a rabble then. Of course Tana was a junior jouse for the 'rabble', though his senior house
was Serengeti.
Nguru will be remembered as a guy who displayed authority as well as being a disciplinarian, dreaded especially by the
4th formers of 1986. Nguru was a remarkable hockey and rugby player, having played for the school teams in both sports.
Bb the time of his death he was the Marketing Director of Equity Bank Kenya Ltd. Prior to then he served in the same
capacity at BAT KENYA LTD.
He was laid to rest at the Langata cemetery on the 18th December 2007. I will miss him dearly, and do believe that those
of us who knew him at the time he was a student will miss him.
