I attended the Prince of Wales School from the third term of 1962 until the end of second
term of 1965.
Memories of School: Culture shock, completely different from a Canadian school. Learning to survive. Hated being classified as a "rabble", and all that went with that.
Looking at Mt Kenya every morning on the way to class.
Since leaving School: While looking through the photos, I saw one of the swim team
from the early 1960's. I had wanted to try out for the team, but one of the more high profile
members told me the team was full and I could not apply. When I returned to Canada, I tried out
for the University swim team, and made the first string. I then went on to hold five provincial
records. I also was on the University water polo team.
I graduated with a B.A. and went into banking. I was an assistant branch manager
before spending one year as a lending officer. I then changed jobs and worked at an accounting
firm for three years. I am now employed as an accountant in a department of the City of
Winnipeg (civic government).
Photo of Patrick in Hawke House sportswear - the wooden classroom block in the picture was the one between the tennis court and the road in
front of the main school building.
