A-levels 1960, and then to Southampton University - Honours Degree in Civil Engineering in
1964. Design office in London until 1966, then emigrated to South Africa in 1966. Contracting
from 1966 until early retirement in 1995, ending up as director on main board of Grinaker, one of
SA's largest contractors.
Widower with daughter aged 11 and son aged 19.
Interests: I play duplicate bridge, love hiking,
bird watching, politics, and very involved in the Methodist Church - strong Christian family.
