I started at the Prince of Wales School in Junior house and was then a founder member of Scott.
My route to PoW was - born in Kenya 23/7/33 - went to Turi School - then to Nairobi Primary School - and from there to PoW.
I then went to Edinburgh where I trained as a Scottish Chartered Accountant and returned to Nairobi to practise there for
33 years, merging my firm into Deloitte and Touche from which I am a retired Partner.
Along the way I got into the hotel business on the South Coast of Kenya (Jadini Beach Hotel , etc.) but moved operations
to Zanzibar where my son Andrew and I built and own the officially designated best 5 star hotel on the Island' known as
Bluebay Beach Resort
My interest in the Old Cambrian Society has been re-awakened following a game of golf recently with David M. Woodford (previous Head
of School, I believe).
A few of us of my "vintage" who remain in Kenya, where I still live for most of the year, meet once a year on the second
Sunday of January at the home in Karen, Nairobi of George McKnight for a good lunch and a chance to talk about old times!
