   Ian (Ache) Roberts

Ian Alexander Roberts

Nickname: Ache
House: Scott
Years: 1956-1960

Loved all the sports - hockey, athletics, rugby and soccer. Great memories of getting caught skinny dipping in the swimming pool after midnight. Stalky Chadwick, needless to say, caught all of us. It was a moonlight night, everybody high tailing back to the dorms when NRC came down the path with his torch. This was probably 1957 at the end of term. He had checked all the empty beds. Four or six of the best administered to about 20 of us.

After leaving school I did national service in the Kenya Regiment, Jan. 1961. Then went to UK and spent two years with London Met. Police. Then moved to Vancouver B.C., Canada and hired on with Canadian Pacific Railway; worked my way up into management stationed in Cranbrook, and, finally, in Vancouver B.C. Retired in 1997.

Married Julie, a teacher, in 1972 and had daughter Marlow, in 1975 (now working in the UK) and son Robbie, in 1977 (working in Vancouver and getting married in July '04).
