Alphonse R. Ogulla

House: Serengeti (Nicholson)
Year: 1989-1992

Memories: Relentless bullying during years as a Junior. Having come from the pleasant surroundings of Kaptagat prep, this was intolerable! Did numerous press-ups and frog jumps in the first few months, but later became thick-skinned and hardened. I presume this was the only approach to staying alive. No wonder I was consigned to the house of villains - Serengeti (Nicholson), from where I (we) had several encounters with those in authority.

The clock tower - a master piece and an artefact of its own kind and time. On the contrary, the famous quadrangle presented an enemy of nightmare proportions in its midst. Luckily, the quite splendid chapel was close at hand to restore a state of tranquility.

Life changed for the better as a Senior. Time for vengeance, retribution and settling of the scores had indeed arrived. For some reason, I never made use of it to the greatest extent.

In line with tradition, I too developed a strong liking for rugger and hockey. Its a pity cricket wasn't played anymore, wasting the experience acquired whilst at Kaptagat prep. Up to this moment, no story sounds better in my ears like a narration of slaughtering Lenana School (Duke of York) in a game of rugger. All in all, I give credit to the boys in power for moulding me to what I am today; a total man and a Linux kernel hacker!.

After School:
  • College: University of Pune, BSc Electronics (Honours)
  • Post-Graduate: University of Nairobi, MSc Information Systems
  • Occupation: Retail Automation Engineer with Shell and BP
