Ivo Nightingale

House: Scott
Years: 1955-1959

Having visited this website, surfing the photos and information brings forward many happy memories and a few less enjoyable recollections. Reminders of class mates and team mates raises thoughts about where are they now.

I don't remember much from school but one sermon Cannon Capon gave shortly after the new chapel was open for business has stuck with me. On the subject of sermon length (or any presentation for that matter) he said "if you don't strike oil in ten minutes stop boring." Many a time I have recalled Cannon Capon's advice as I sat through deadly sermons or presentations.

I remember, perhaps it was the best or worst day of my life, when I arrived at school for swimming sports day after a leave of absence to work on a film. 'Jake' (Fletcher) spotted me strutting across the compound. I was wearing a scarlet shirt, socks rolled down, a pair of old tackies, sporting a crew cut and smoking a State Express 555 without a care in the world. 'Jake' expelled me on the spot and said there was no way I could return to school next term which had been the plan up until that moment.

On leaving the Prince of Wales I farmed for a year or two, moved to the UK, freelanced in the feature film and television world. Married a Canadian and moved to Canada to work with educational television for 24 years. Now retired and living in Peterborough, Ontario.
