I retain many happy memories of my days at the Prince of Wales school, despite a generally lack-lustre performance
academically and being average at sport. I did box for the school against St Mary's and the Duke of York as well as for
Clive House and won the Style cup on two occasions, but apart from that and being in the school gymnastics team, my efforts
never got beyond my house first team in Hockey, Cricket and Rugby.
When I left school I came over to the UK and joined the Royal Navy. As an Acting Sub-Lieutenant I had a great time in the
Mediteranean and elsewhere. I left the navy in 1958 and fairly soon after started my own printing, graphic design and
stationery business which flourished sufficiently to keep me off 'the dole' and maintain my wife and two children,
a boy and a girl in the style to which they had by now become accustomed! Head office was in Fulham, London.
Now that I have retired we have disembarked from our flat in London via a house 10 miles from Cambridge and latterly
(3 years) to the Peak District in Staffordshire where we enjoy the quiet of a (almost) traffic-free village near Leek.
