I attended the Prince of Wales School between about 1945 and 1946.
I now live in Seattle, Washington, USA with my wife, Mary Malins, Ph.D., who is a teacher. We have three sons,
Timothy J. Malins, MD, Gregory Malins (a well known television producer, e.g., Friends, NBC), and Christopher Malins, CPA,
Senior Assoc. Treasurer, University of Washington. We have three grandchildren: Harry & Jack (Greg’s sons) and
Anais (Tim’s daughter).
I am Principal Scientist and Director of the Biochemical Oncology Program at the Pacific Northwest Research Institute.
My work focuses on studies of the etiology of human cancer. I was elected to the United States National Academy of
Sciences in 1995 and am also an affiliate professor at the University of Washington, Seattle.
