My most abiding memory is being at the retirement of "Jake". Other feelings are mixed and a bit lost in the mists of time.
After leaving School I went into the Kenya Regiment for National Service, and then after a spell back in UK around 1962 I
joined the Lancashire Constabulary for a couple of years. I married in 1964 and after the Police Force had a number of
different jobs, mainly as a Rep for Ferodo. During the years between 1958 and 1968 I became an Alcoholic and finally
stopped drinking in 1973. Very sick indeed, and lucky to be alive.
In 1976 I got converted and went back to the Salvation Army; I had grown up as a youngster with parents who were missionary
officers. In 1979/80 My wife and I were accepted for training as Salvation Army Officers and have served since then in a
number of places around the country and Northern Ireland. I am now a Major and will retire in about 4 years time.
