Memories: Pretty positive!
Loved History at school, and studied it ever since (especially of Portugal
and the Portuguese overseas). Honours degree in History (Oxford), PhD
(Harvard).
To Australia in 1961. Married Jenny. Son and daughter - now both
adult, one married one engaged, both living in Melbourne. Taught at La Trobe
University, Melbourne 1970-99.
Now retired after a bout of illness, but
still doing (guess what!) History. Am currently writing a History of
Portugal and its empire (Beginnings to mid seventeenth century). Living in
outer Melbourne.
