I'm an American who lived in Tanzania in 1966-67. I went to POW during the 1966-67 school years
and was a proud member of Hawke House. During my stay at Hawke House I fondly remember
receiving three of the best - (I'm sure you know what I am talking about).
I became a school teacher and taught for 31+ years in the State of Oregon, USA; now retired.
I have two grandchildren and life is good. I was looking over the Old Cambrians webpage and I ran across a picture of
Mr. Hogge. Mr. Hogge caned me back in 1967 and the story of that caning has been one that has been repeated hundreds
of times to my students. They can't imagine being caned for being twenty seconds late for class!!
I remember those temporary classrooms that lasted 50 years!! Those are days I will never forget, but wouldn't care to
repeat. My experiences at Nairobi School definitely shaped my life in a very positive way.
