Christopher M.K. Deas-Dawlish

Nickname: Chris
House: Rhodes
Years: 1958-1962

Prefect in Junior House 1961-1962. Other memories were shooting, CCF and then Air Cadet with Freddy Hill D.F.C. (Housemaster of Grigg). We used to go to R.A.F. Eastleigh Airport and go up in Pembrokes, Twin Pioneers and Blackburn Beverlies. Also enjoyed swimming, and golf at the Vetlabs Golf Course where I was taken in the old school Bedford Van to play golf at the Vetlabs Golf Course at Kabete. I had my own membership and so was able to go and have a beer or two in the Club House before returning to school. We also had golf lessons from a Pro from Muthaiga Golf Course. I think his name was Kinneard. We used to go to Muthaiga Club for these lessons. It was a nice way to get off the school grounds. Other memories - the House Dance each year with girls from the Boma.

After school I went to Aberdeen University and graduated with MA in 1966. RAFVR and RAF for a short while. Then Lever Brothers in England. Married in 1967 to Elizabeth (Liz) nee Ridley, daughter of Robert G. Ridley and Mrs. Mary Ridley. Robert was Gen. Mgr. of the Standard Bank for East Africa. We left Britian and came to Canada in 1968. We have two children, a daughter Deborah born in 1969, and a son Robert born in 1972. Involved in business - Banking, Credit Unions, Insurance, Education - instructor at various colleges and College Principal. We have also run our own childcare business for 32 years. I did 15 years service with the Canadian Forces Reserves. A Captain with the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada. Main hobbies are Boating and Flying.
