Memories: As a member of the house boxing team, I remember on one occasion
lying awake after lights-out for my good pal, Henry West, to come back from the schoolboy
championships. He had donated some teeth and suffered 2 black-eyes, but the broad grin said
everything!
I also remember one of the South Africans getting the 'tacky' for talking during prep,
sitting in a fire bucket to cool down, and promptly getting another 6 of the best!
Dad was with EAR&H, and with my brothers Guy and Patrick (both ex-POW) we went back to the UK in
1962. I went through Bristol University (Civil Engineering) in 1969, and have travelled Middle
East and Europe in my work as a Project Manager with Bovis Lend Lease.
Unfortunately not been
back to Africa - time will come when I can share the experience with my wife and 2 daughters.
It sticks in ones' blood, though, and I have settled for the next best thing - a home in Cyprus
since 1988 where I go as often as I can.
Photos: Unfortunately, I don't at this time have any photos of School days as so much of our
possessions are in storage while we travel; but now we have the Old Cambrian Society web site
I will keep an eye open for any I come across.
