A friend has just pointed out that I am on the Old Cambrian 'Wanted List' so this is Rodney (Ted) Ashwood checking in,
alive and well. I was Hawke House from 1958 to 1962 and was great friends with the likes of Freddie Schwentafsky, Guy
Warren, 'Buddha' Collier, 'JC' Moore, Richard Gilson (Rhodes) amongst others.
After School I went to Sandhurst and was commissioned into the Welch Regiment, later to become the Royal Regiment of Wales.
I served a full career and left as a Lieutenant Colonel to become a military museum curator in Brecon, South Wales.
I continue to work for the Ministry of Defence and retire in 3 years time when I hope to take up writing full time.
I have just had my first book published - For Queen and Country, the Zulu War Diary of Lieutenant Heaton, 24th Regiment
of Foot 1879 (ISBN 1 84394 163 5) which can be found on Amazon.co.uk, should anyone be interested.
I married Jackie in 1966 and we have 2 children and 5 grandchildren.
I did not realise that there was an Old Cambrian web site and I feel so guilty not to have stayed in touch with what was
such a memorable part of my life; still, perhaps it is not too late after all.
