Years: 1959-1964
Memories of school:
  • Making toffee in tins under the gum trees near Junior House
  • The big avocado tree by the duka near the valley (avos supplementing the school food)
  • Going out of bounds on the weekend in the valley and cooking mealies
  • Running cross country by Welcome Trust
  • 6B biology field visits in the valley with Link Seldon
  • The school train from Kampala to Nairobi, especially when we shared with Limuru Girls and the Convents
  • Going on exeat in the School Lorry to Nairobi and selling moleskins to Osman Yakub
  • Visiting the cigarette factory (EAT) and EA Breweries
  • Rhodes winning most of the sports trophies in 1964
  • The annual Bicycle Safari - I used to team with Richard Fenwick and our bike was number 75 for Plateau
  • Often getting the cane for smoking
  • Kenya Combined Schools Rugby tour of Uganda 1964

    Since leaving School:
    Royal Marines, Helicopter Pilot, Medical Insurance Broker.

    Lived in the Far East, South Africa, Oman and now in Berkshire, UK
