   Old Cambrian Society "e-Newsletter" - 19th Oct 2010

e-Newsletter -  19th October 2010

Dear Old Cambrian,

We’ve had a glorious summer here in Jersey (Channel Islands, UK), and autumn is now well and truly settling in. Time for me stay indoors more and get back to my desk and to do some catching up with posting of articles, photos and Alumni registrations on the web site. Winter is always a time when I try to clear my Inbox and my “to do” pile, so over the next few months I will get completely up to date.

There are many events and reunions taking place in the next few days and weeks, and whilst they have been advertised on the OCS web site for some time, I thought it was only right that I give them some specific publicity by way of this newsletter. Here goes ………..

Request  -  Information regarding All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi.

Paul Mpungu (Clive 1972-1975)  …. one of my class mates and a fellow Clive House inmate!! ….. well, Paul has been commissioned to do an Ecclesiastical heritage Inspection of All Saints Cathedral, Nairobi. Paul is a Conservation Architect and would like to appeal to friends of ASCC overseas for any archival material they may have. He has so far managed to acquire some documents and drawings, mostly of the outbuildings, from the City Council Archives Room but none of the Main Sanctuary - the Cathedral. Paul is looking at gather old photos, letters, architectural drawings, lithos, stories, incidences; anything at all that will contribute to building a materials archive for this Heritage project.

If you can help in any way please contact me (webmaster@oldcambrians.com) and I will put you in touch with Paul.

Book by an Old Cambrian  -  “Patch” by Mucheru Njaga (Serengeti (Nicholson) House 1993-1996)

The book will be officially released in mid October via M&K AuthorHouse publishers based in San Francisco.

A note from the author: "Patch" is dedicated to all Old Cambrians, past and present and I hope it will serve as a testimony to what it means to be "Patcharian". The publishers will produce a limited signed Alumni edition book that will be distributed via the author page.

For more details go to Amazon - http://www.amazon.com/Patch-Assumption-crime-Mucheru-Njaga/dp/0615378773

Sadly, over the past few months a number of Old Cambrians have passed away. I will publish a list of those that I am aware of in the next Newsletter which I hope to send out in the run-up to Christmas.

I make my usual plea........ If you are planning a gathering/reunion of Old Cambrians, please let me know so that I can advertise it in an e-Newsletter and on the web site. Once your gathering has taken place, send me a photo and short report to be published on the Reunions page - http://www.oldcambrians.com/PhotosReunions.html
