   Old Cambrian Society "e-Newsletter" - 9th Jan 2011

e-Newsletter -  9th January 2011

Dear Old Cambrian,

A very Happy New Year to everyone, and I hope that 2011 is everything you and your loved ones wish for.

Here goes with a rundown of important items for your attention:

Reunion - Old Cambrian Society (UK) – 50th Anniversary Annual Dinner & Reunion on Friday, 8th April 2011

at the RAF Club, Piccadilly, London

I welcome and encourage Old Cambrians from all over the world to attend this special landmark dinner, with 2011 marking the 50th anniversary of the formation of the UK branch of the Old Cambrian Society. Without any substantial advertising, we already have people coming to the dinner from Australia and South Africa. We are restricted to around 110 places, so please book your places early. More information and the booking form can be found at - http://www.oldcambrians.com/events2011dinner.html

New Feature Article – “Robert Lewis McLellan-Sim NRIAD – Talented Art Master of the Prince of Wales School 1947-63”

Another superb article that I am delighted to add to the Old Cambrian Society web site, and we are all indebted to Neville Watson (Scott 1953-9) who has painstakingly researched and put together a quite fascinating account of a very talented former teacher of our school. The article can be found at - http://www.oldcambrians.com/RMS.html - and if anyone out there has access to a painting/drawing by Mr McLellan-Sim that is not currently featured in the article, could you please obtain a decent quality photo of the work of art and then send it to me. We will then add all the “new” pieces to the article so that we have a more complete record of the work of RMS.

In the coming month I am travelling to Hong Kong and New Zealand, so I’m keen to meet up with any Old Cambrians who may be out there. Nothing planned at the moment, but I have reserved the following dates in my schedule:

Proposed ReunionHong Kong -  Sunday, 30th January 2011

I am in Hong Kong on business from 29th Jan to 2nd Feb and have set Sunday 30th Jan free to meet up with any Old Cambrians who might be in the area. However, I could meet up any of the evenings that I’m there, so please contact me if you are interested in joining me for a meal.

Proposed ReunionAuckland, New Zealand -  Saturday, 5th February 2011

I am in New Zealand from 3rd Feb to 28th Feb for the World Jersey Cattle Bureau International Conference and tours, and will be in the Auckland area at the beginning of my trip (3rd to 6th Feb). I have made contact with Graham Wallace (Nicholson 1965-70) so at least two of us will meet up on Sat 5th Feb in the Auckland area, and would welcome other Old Cambrians to join us. Nothing specifically planned yet, so we’re open to suggestions. After 6th Feb I will be travelling south and eventually around most of New Zealand, so if any Old Cambrians anywhere else in New Zealand wish to meet up with me, please let me know where you are and I will see if my itinerary will allow me to break off from the tour and meet up with you.

I make my usual plea........ If you are planning a gathering/reunion of Old Cambrians, please let me know so that I can advertise it in an e-Newsletter and on the web site. Once your gathering has taken place, send me a photo and short report to be published on the Reunions page - http://www.oldcambrians.com/PhotosReunions.html

That's all for now!
