e-Newsletter - 17th
August 2007
Dear Old Cambrian,
It’s time to give a
‘plug’ to a few very important events that are taking place in the
coming month or so. This Newsletter will be short, giving you the opportunity
to concentrate, have a think, and then possibly register for one of the
splendid reunions that are about to take place. It’s so great being an
Old Cambrian these days, and I’ve heard from several OCs
that are planning to fly thousands of miles to attend one of the events.
I’d be interested to hear from anyone who’s traveling further than
one OC who is planning to attend the Nairobi
reunion from his home in New
Zealand ………. something
like 17,500 miles for the round trip. Can you beat that ?
The challenge is out.
So, here goes
.............
Reunion - North American Luncheon
& Weekend, organised by Old Cambrian Society (Canada)
Saturday 8th September
and Sunday 9th September 2007 - Mississauga, Ontario,
Canada
So far there are 48 registrations for this
event. Come on guys, we can do MUCH better than that!!
I was hoping we would get at least 100 so
that my journey from the UK
would be made even more special.
Zahir Dharsee, Dave Allen and Dave Burn have organized a fantastic weekend …….
golf, a great reunion luncheon, and to crown it all we’re going to visit
one of the wonders of the world, Niagara Falls!!
If you live in North
America, or anywhere for that matter, we need you there!!

Reunion - Old
Cambrian Society (South
Africa)
Sunday 23rd
September 2007 - Stonehaven Castle,
Shongweni
Valley, nr. Durban, South
Africa
Registrations are
somewhat slow, and we just can’t have that, can we? So please contact Dave Leslie to book
your tickets. He is kindly offering his magnificent property for what promises
to be a truly memorable reunion. It will be held over a long weekend, so Old
Cambrians, you have no excuses. Families welcome as usual at all OCS events.

Reunion - Old
Cambrian Society (Kenya)
Friday 28th
September 2007 - Annual
Dinner-Dance at the Impala Club, Nairobi.
Please note the change of venue. By
popular demand this reunion will be at the Impala Club
(and not Nairobi Club as previously announced).
Sam Agutu and his team are busy putting the finishing touches to the programme, and he contacted me the other day with this
– “Obviously there is great history between the
Old Cambrians and Impala and it was felt that we needed to go back home. We
will have an outdoor barbeque theme and apart from the "Nyama Choma" there will be
some real hot curry and an assortment fresh fruits ++++for dessert. The charge
will be Sh.1,000 per
ticket and we are targeting 200-250 people this time”.
I have just booked tickets for myself and
my wife, Suzanne, so get booking your places now by contacting Sam by e-mail
at: sagutu@clarknot.com
Volunteers still needed to help with the
raffle and other activities. If you are willing and able to help, please
mention it in your e-mail to Sam.
Rugby success - Prescott Cup win for Nairobi School -
2007 School Rugby
Champions!!
Nairobi School beat Mang'u
School 26-24 in the final of the Prescott Cup at the RFUEA
grounds on 1st July.
Well done to the
team ……….. and also the supporters,
who appear to be almost as famous as the players!!

achievement, please click on the following link: http://www.oldcambrians.com/Photos-PrescottCup2007.html
With Kenya’s parliamentary
elections just months away, there will no doubt be a number of Old Cambrians
putting themselves up for election. I’ve heard from Imanyara Gitobu (Scott 1968-73)
who is throwing his hat into the ring, and we wish him well. He will be at the Nairobi reunion on 28th
September, and looks forward to meeting up with old
school pals.
Well, I promised you this would be short,
but I can’t close without making my usual plea........ If you are
planning a gathering/reunion of Old Cambrians, please let me know so that I can
advertise it in an e-Newsletter and on the web site.
That's all for now!
