No real fond memories.... getting 6 of the best from prefects and the head master on numerous
occasions for petty infringements. This treatment by the seniors, this I'm told helps build
character, not too sure about this.
I worked at Entebbe Airport as a catering officer, then the same at Nairobi Airport,
and in the mail and cargo section at Dar-Es-Salaam Airport. Came to Australia in 1963, did
several odd jobs, door to door selling, delivering bread and cane cutting. Then a breakfast
cook in a flash hotel only because the manager was an ex East African Airways pilot.
Got to become the head chef.
Went to Tasmania to marry a Tasmanian and with her family we built and ran a motel for
16 years. During that time I bought a Taxi and ran that for a few years in between cooking,
and also got a private detective licence; busy years! Sold the motel and Taxi and got a job
as a cook in the merchant navy, and then retired after working up to Chief Steward.
Since retiring I have gone back to college and learnt computers and that is what I am
doing now, building and repairing computers and having a ball. I have also taken several
courses in massage and am an accredited masseur.
